LGBTQ voices have long been pushed to the margins. In mainstream society, many people are understanding and supportive, yet few have had the chance to truly get to know this community and the individual experiences within it.
The Unfinished brings together works and objects tracing the development of China’s LGBTQ community from ancient times to the present and on into today’s social movements; from individual journeys of awakening to one’s gender identity to a participatory station where visitors make small books from their own stories. Through this immersive experience, every participant is invited to come closer to LGBTQ communities and the diverse, real experiences of their lives.
