OUT Museum: An Artist Residency Project at 41 Ross

During AAPI Heritage Month and Pride Month, the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco launched the latest edition of its 41 Ross artist residency, featuring queer artist and activist Chen Xiangqi. Chen transformed 41 Ross into “OUT Museum,” the prototype of a Chinese queer museum, aiming to build an institution that collects, protects and exhibits the movements, art and stories of Chinese queer people.
From April 11 to June 29, 2024, this “pilot museum” showed Chen’s personal collection and hosted exhibitions, film screenings, panel discussions and a series of pop-up performances by Chinese queer and feminist artists.
Opening: Friday, April 12, 2024, 5:30–9 pm. Hours: Thursday to Saturday, 11 am–4 pm.
