Exhibition Introduction
Infinite Spring, Infinite Queer is a contemporary expression focused on Chinese-language queer art and culture, dedicated to exploring the intersections of gender identity, cultural diversity, and social transformation. The exhibition centers on the theme of Spring, a symbol of rebirth, awakening, and hope, reflecting the growing vitality and artistic innovation of queer communities across Asia.
This exhibition is initiated and strongly supported by Rafael Mandelman, President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and curated by OUT Museum. It marks an important moment, where the Chinese queer community is not only seen in art, but also speaks and takes root in the city’s core public space. It is a convergence of visibility and public presence, like a springtime awakening.
The exhibition and artworks also incorporate cultural imagery of the Lunar New Year, symbolizing a bond that brings together Chinese communities and broader Asian and immigrant communities to celebrate the New Year. Beyond symbolizing the renewal of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, this gesture also reflects the recognition and support of the Office of Rafael Mandelman for multicultural and immigrant communities. Together, the exhibition conveys a city-wide message of inclusion, solidarity, and coexistence.
